Dimethyl fumarate (Tecfidera and generics): serious GI-event risk to be added to Canadian monographs

A Health Canada Summary Safety Review found a possible link between dimethyl fumarate and serious gastrointestinal events (perforation, ulceration, hemorrhage, obstruction) based on 22 international cases. Health Canada will work with manufacturers to update the Canadian product monograph for all DMF products (Tecfidera and generics, for relapsing-remitting MS).
